I upgraded to wine-1.1.14 (which is in the unstable/untested branch of Gentoo
portage).  I have an EVGA NVidia 9800 GTX+ am using
x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-180.27  .

I tried loading the game again, and it still doesn't go past the introduction. 
However, I did see graphics -- what looked like a dark blue background, and I
see the outline of the alien ship during the introduction.  After the screen
turns white, the game crashes.  I've attached another log.
