Michael, how did you do your install?  I've seen this error during startup of
Quicken 2007 Home & Business, but only after installing gdiplus via winetricks:

# winetricks gdiplus

After installing that, I too get the com error at startup.  Prior to that I was
having other problems, but the program was getting further than it does now.

Did you install anything with winetricks, or did this occur on a clean wine
install?
