Console dump of attempted to run left4dead from steam with wine 1.1.15

I seem to be having a similar issue.  When I attempt to run left4dead or
half-life 2 from Steam using wine 1.1.14 and 1.1.15, it fails to run.  I have
attached a console dump.  It works using wine 1.0.1.  My machine is also
PC-x86-64, with an NVidia 8600 GT video card.  Using Debian Lenny x86-64.  I
installed wine 1.1.{14,15} from the lamaresh.net repository, 1.0.1 from the
debian repository.
