Yes dedicated server running on Linux/Wine installed following the howto
available here:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=10399

So yes using dplay native libs

linux/wine client is having same behavior. Still the same message as windows
client : "Connectiong to x.x.x.x".
