I am having the exact same problem as Ruslan. When I try run the "wine
setup.exe" the output in terminal is the same as his stderr attachment.

I am using Wine 1.0 from the Ubuntu 8.04.1 Repositories. I have a legitimate
version of Mathcad 2001 installation CD. According to
http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?appId=263&versionId=1402, Mathcad 2001
Professional installs perfectly fine on Wine 0.9.41, so why not Wine 1.0?
