So I decided to start over in trying to get this running. Surprisingly, I got a
little farther along the line. Installation normally fails when InstallShield
is working and the window closes on its own with no message. Now, I get a
normal looking InstallShield window that reads "InstallShield Wizard Complete.
The wizard was interrupted before Mathcad 2001 Professional could be
installed... Click 'Finish' to exit the Wizard."

Here is the output from the terminal:

It's shorter and the failure is less mysterious. I hope that we're getting
closer. I had I think the only thing that changed was the PreLoaderPageZero
issue mentioned by Austin.
