QB2007-08Trial.exe now seems to install properly with just
  winetricks mfc42
That's not a wine bug; they simply forgot to bundle the mfc42 runtime.

(The app does put up a dialog three times on exit with title "Crash" and 
body "COM error", which you can work around with winetricks msxml3.  
But that's a different bug.  And it's much better than it used to be!)
