I saw some commits for widl went in yesterday, that apparently have fixed this
bug.

For me the crash is gone in current wine-1.1.25. 

Stalwart, could you try newest wine-version 1.1.25, and see if the bug is fixed
for you too? If so, resolve this bug as fixed.
