Microsoft also has a "stand-alone" .net 3.0 installer on his site
http://download.microsoft.com/download/3/F/0/3F0A922C-F239-4B9B-9CB0-DF53621C57D9/dotnetfx3.exe

This one installs just fine fine with patch for LsaLookupNames2, and a stubbed
out wbemprox. 

(I guess the standard installer fails in the end  because it tries to install
languagpakcs?)
