Yep, this happens to me with Ace Online 2.1.0.2 in wine 1.1.25 on ubuntu9.04

However I was able to get Air Rivals (1.0.0.36) working just fine - after
installing directx9c and overriding some dlls according to the guide posted on
Air Rival's appdb page.

Seems like it could be something easy as the games are different versions of
the same thing. (And yet I'm sure it never is.)
