It's not valid shell script. You can not run it that way. It's a desktop
shortcut and totally meaningless to the shell. You can only "double-click" on
it. Also see this for proper way of running program from the terminal:

What video driver version? Try running in virtual desktop mode. Also post
output of 'xrandr' command.
