Same thing happens for me in Half-Life 2 at a specific point in Entanglement
(involving a screen, but this is not the first one in the game). This makes it
impossible to progress further without cheating to skip the level. The registry
tweak mentioned fixes this. Using 1.1.16, and several versions prior.
