I can confirm the same issue.
I'm running kubuntu 8.10 64bit with wine-1.1.16.
The issue happens after some minutes and I suspect is related to te sound since
before the freeze happens, the sound quality decrease while cpu increases.
I will search if I can test the game without sound.
