Confirmed this bug, on a nVidia 9600GT running 1680x1050, although on my
system, anything above 1024x768 results in instability, and an eventual crash.
I am not sure if it is the same bug, though. Is there any way to get some info
through debugging in the command line? right now, I'm running with
WINEDEBUG="fixme-all" and getting nothing that could be a hint. Any ideas?

Also, a similar crash would happen with fallout 3, in which the sound would
loop, the video would freeze, and there would be an eventual crash to desktop.
Is there any evidence to suggest that these two bugs could be related, or am I
being too vague to even consider drawing that conclusion?
