This seems to be bug #13335 (http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13335)
applying the last two proposed patches fix the issue. Game looks exactly like
on windows on highest detail with a GeForce GTX 260 and beta drivers 185.13,
but runs considerably slower than in windows. (tested on the same rig)
