I can confirm that this bug probably affects another 3D game, Deus Ex,
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=3775.

The game saves created under wine (1.1.12 and 1.1.18, at least) do not contain
previews of the environment and situation. These previews normally should be
drawn in the load dialog, but for saves created under wine the preview squares
are empty (whereas all windows saves previews are OK). The race condition patch
fixed this for me - now all previews are saved correctly.

In this case this bug is not critical - I did not found other malfunctions in
the saving functionality of Deus Ex.
