hrmmmm - Google is my friend - I searched on that GNUTLS message and was
provided the following script and resulting output.

echo QUIT |gnutls-cli --print-cert --starttls --port 8333 vulcan
Resolving 'vulcan'...
Connecting to '10.0.0.31:8333'...

- Simple Client Mode:

*** Starting TLS handshake
*** Fatal error: A TLS packet with unexpected length was received.
*** Handshake has failed

FYI (if not obvious) - vulcan is the name of the vm server.
