I have also wondered about this. First, I installed and ran ForgedAlliance
successfully on wine 1.1.29. After upgrading to 1.1.30, FA starts showing this
black screen. When I discovered this bug report after a while, I also installed
SupremeCommander to reproduce the mentioned bug there, but it worked
instantanously on wine 1.1.32. Thus, I came to the decision to delete my
Game.prefs, which might be somehow misconfigured. Surprisingly, it worked.
