Is it enough to disable stripping debug symbols after the compilation?

If no, can you tell which switch in
http://sources.gentoo.org/viewcvs.py/gentoo-x86/app-emulation/wine/wine-1.1.33.ebuild?view=markup
disables debug symbols?
