This "bug" was in fact caused by my having changed the default install path. 
Linux terminal seems unable to steer into folders named with spaces, making it
impossible to access for example the Program Files folder in drive_c....  So I
simply deleted the spaces which in turn is what i think caused the problem of
Vegas not starting.
Solution: put the SonyInstall folder in your home folder in order to launch the
install program with wine.

Vegas now seems to work fine.
