I've found that after a game tries to install the C++ library or something
similar, you need to uninstall it, often by removing the installed files from
/windows/system32 under your wine profile's c drive Only after that can you
successfully install it using winetricks. Hope this helps.

You could always try this under a new wineprefix, as in "export
WINEPREFIX=~/putnamehere" to create a new prefix.
