I believe if the calling convention issue was still valid nothing would work or
a lot less would. 

When I tested I was able to run complex applications such as Microsoft Office
and Photoshop however they were not very stable and many tests failed due to
what was apparently alignment issues. As far as I understand x86 tries take
care of misalignment automatically but results in poor performance which
negates any point of using icc.

What I suspect, and this is just a shot in the dark, is that icc is not
honouring some of our requests for structure packing. I tested every switch
(and the kitchen sink) I could throw at icc to try get alignment tests not to
fail and every time they failed in a different manner.

According to Alexandre it should be possible to write a test to verify this
without much trouble. Feel free to assign this bug to me. Mark it as
Enhancement.
