I'm trying to trace down the error and get a testcase. I'm trying different
http headers.

Dmitry, I totally understand why iexplore isn't supposed to work without gecko;
however this is an application crashing 100% of the time on a page, and not
crashing ever on another, byte-for-byte identical page. Try it:
