This problem is gone in 1.1.29 (at least) with wine_gecko-1.0.0 . 

However, the wine_gecko-1.0.0 still crashes but that is due to the compact
function screws up the font cache. After I comment out some code and compile my
own version of wine_gecko-1.0.0, wine iexplore works again.
