This bug is not fixed. It looks like there are bugs both in Wine and Mozilla.
AFAIK Aric knows the Wine font bug and it might be fixed by font overrides.
Also it should be fixed in Mozilla. Your analyze is a good start. Would you be
able to make a proper patch for them or file a bug in their bugzilla? Please
let me know if you're interested and you need any help with it.
