I can confirm this bug.
I am running Rosetta Stone 3.0.35 with Wine 1.1.31 on Ubuntu 9.10 with exactly
the same problems.

1. Usually, the program runs fine, after a while I get a message box from Wine,
telling me that a fatal erro had occured ant the program has to be closed.
Howewer, the program keeps on running until it quits unexpectedly, usually at
the end of a training unit.

2. Sometimes the program doesn't start up on first try. Nothing happens when I
click the launcher. On 2nd try it works "OK" as mentioned above.

3. Sometimes, the program quits after the initial choice of lesson. I click the
arrow to start the desired lesson and the program exits without warning or
message.

My error logs (started wine from console and redirected STDOUT and STDERR to
file) look almost identical to the one posted by pyro_2006.
