I experience the same performance drops when the weapon selection menu is on
the screen, using Wine-1.3.0, the game version is 1.5. 
I tried the game with the DIB engine patches; the performance issue is gone
when the menu is on the screen...but all texts disappeared from the game.

Nvidia 7600 GT card / driver 195.36.31
