I tried various ways to get a meaningful log. I found this way to work best:

cd "$STEAM_DIR/steamapps/$PROFILE/half-life 2"
wine hl2.exe -novid +map d1_trainstation_01 &> hl2.log

...after starting steam from another terminal. I will attach non-debug, file,
+seh and +tid logs using this method.

For whatever strange reason, the level starts with +relay debug!
