I had installed latest flashplayer using winetricks to give your advice a try.
Unfortunately browsers (both wine iexplorer and win32 version of Mozilla
Firefox) also hanged hard just at the moment any flash content appears on page.

I had managed to turn the flashplayer hardware acceleration off by transfering
appropriate settings file from a Windows XP installation (I have a notebook
with Windows XP Home installed + Firefox + Adobe FlashPlayer 10.1). At first I
disabled hardware acceleration in browser on Windows XP machine and then copied
the file "%USERPROFILE%/Application Data/Macromedia/Flash
Player/macromedia.com/support/flashplayer/sys/settings.sol" into my wineprefix.
It helped to workaround the problem and made the game playable.

This workaround isn't a good one for wine users as it require working copy of
Windows XP to do a fix. Hope wine would be fixed so recent versions of Adobe
Flash Player would work correctly.
