Did you compile wine yourself or use a binary package? If you did compile it
yourself, try a binary package instead.

Try installing steam in a clean prefix and install CS:S in that prefix to see
if it launches. eg:

wget http://cdn.steampowered.com/download/SteamInstall.msi
WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-steam msiexec /i SteamInstall.msi

If that still fails, try booting an earlier kernel.
