The bug is in all versions of wine.  There also appears to be a problem when
doing the initial network connect.  The select() function is returning a 1 to
indicate a connection was established, when in fact it has not.  This is simple
to confirm by trying to connect to a server that is powered down.

It appears the wine network logic does not do any error checking at all!
