After digesting your comments, I was thinking it was a Mesa R600 driver bug
too. Simplifying this down to a simple test program for the Mesa DRI R600
driver is well beyond my OpenGL abilities though. Any chance you could check if
there might be an already existing bug report regarding NP2 textures that would
be a likely candidate? At least that way I could get the patch in with the
quirk active for Mesa/ATI and a TODO: comment to disable the quirk for the DRI
R600 cards when the driver bug gets fixed.
