I too am not using Gallium 3D. R600+ Gallium is still in its infancy. 

I can't run 3dmark2003 because it complains about not having hardware that
supports DXT1 and DXT3. And HL2 performance on my machine is better measured in
SPF than in FPS. Suddenly the antiquated 3dmark2001se seems like a great
benchmark :)

If there are any other traces you need from a HD4870 on Linux please let me
know. I don't think I'm going to have this card for much longer (going to buy
an Nvidia so I can play COD6-MW2).
