[Bug 21702] Continuum: crashes at start up screen

I can do a regression test, but I'm not certain this was necessarily caused by
a change in wine, because I successfully ran the same Continuum version on
openSUSE 11.1, which used 1.1.9. Trying that version on my current install did
no good.

I tried building other versions and using packaged binaries as well, going as
early as 1.0.1 I believe. All of them that I was able to patch exhibited the
same behavior. I'm guessing then something has changed with a dependency or the
implementation, or it's possible my install is messed up, too. In any case I am
going to try my best to try to get to the bottom of this.
