I have the same bug since 2-3 days (an debian update somewere ?) in unstable
with 1.1.32-1 wine' version.
The console display of steam :
CellID: Fetching server list from CSDS. . .
ALSA lib ../../../src/pcm/pcm.c:2171:(snd_pcm_open_conf) Cannot open shared
library /usr/lib32/alsa-lib/libasound_module_pcm_pulse.so

that ntlm_auth >= 3.0.25 is in your path.
err:ntlm:SECUR32_initNTLMSP Usually, you can find it in the winbind package of
your distribution.
CellID: CSDS returned 167 servers.

CellID: Connect to took 154 MS
CellID: Nothing beat our old best time of 34 MS

Shutting down. . .

On my debian I make some stuff with PulseAudio but before I logout of steam and
can log anymore. But I have play with same sound configuration without problem
just before logout. Not that.

I look for the libntlm0 error version indicated. No trace of update in my
aptitude logs but juste before the network bug : STEAM HAS BEEN UPDATED
Perhaps an new version dependancy of libntlm for him ?
