I've tried several versions of the nVidia drivers, both the newest ones
suggested by Ubuntu 9.10 and the latest ones available from nVidia.

Other games run fine full-screen, so there's likely a bug in Wine somewhere
even if the rebooting is just a symptom.

Are you actually saying you can run full-screen (virtual desktop disabled) and
make the game work? Everyone in the test reports database for the game agrees
that this is not possible! What special settings are you using to accomplish
this?
