I do not care about this case any longer.  I got SageTV to run on both
Windows and Ubuntu Linux with no problem.  I am going to switch to 
SageTV and just use my desktop PC as a TV server and my notebook
running Linux as a client.  I can even record with this software
and most importantly, it ran the first time I installed. I did not have
to go through hoops, installing , reinstalling packages, modified source
code, etc..

I am done with wine and Slingbox for Linux.

Thank you for your efforts.  Let me know if you get this crap fixed.
