I couldn't reproduce the problem you have: URU-Complete Chronicles starts up
fine for me with Wine-1.1.39, Fedora 12, using an Nvidia card. Although I have
the digital distribution version of the game from GoG.com not the retail cd
version.
Note: This game doesn't run in fullscreen mode, only virtual desktop mode works
(at least for me).
