One more thing to add: I've tried the linked "abandonia" version of the game
and the default color depth the game was using was 8 bit.
After setting ORM=backbuffer in the registry I could start the game and changed
the color depth in the options menu to 16-bit (640x480x16). From then I can
switch back to the fbo method and the game starts up fine. So it might be the
8-bit color depth caused problems to wine.
