I tried the suggestion from Wylda, I even put in the 'ABC' :-)

It certainly does something, thought I'm not sure what. When I start the game,
it switches to some resolution that my monitor doesn't support for some reason.
I know my monitor supports 800 by 600 and everything else in between, so I'm
not sure what is happening unless wine is setting a resolution outside of the
allowed ones for X server perhaps?

But I can confirm that this setting does do something, just not sure what yet.
