for me on Mac OS X, the 2 patches on the WInehacks git does NOT allow STO to
play.  It gets past the first crash, then crashes at a later part of the
loading screen before the character selection.  So don't assume this is fixed
for everyone with those patches.  There are more people on the STo forums that
have reported it not working for them either.
