I agree these are the same bug, but I think the summary of this bug is a more
accurate description of the problem. The black background occurs with any
click-drag action, not just inserting shapes. And I can confirm comment #4,
that for some shapes (only line shapes, from what I've tested), the editor
becomes unresponsive, the black does not go away when you release the mouse
button, and the line is not drawn at all. However, it is not necessary to close
Powerpoint to clear it--navigating forward or back one slide and then returning
to that slide will refresh it.

Still present in 1.1.37.
