actually, I get the same problem in Diablo2 (the X11 pointer is visible and
follows the game's cursor). So to me this seems like bug 20362, except I
_always_ get this behaviour in Diablo2, while you experience a 50% frequency
with this game.

To work around it, I get the Diablo2 window to minimize (by changing resolution
with xrandr, then back); after restoring it, the X11 pointer is properly
hidden.
