I am having this problem too. I installed the newest version of Wine from the
terminal and I'm using the latest x64 edition of Ubuntu 10.04.

I have an nVidia Geforce GTX 275 with the proprietary driver installed.

I even tried the only solution I found with the search function, editing your
hosts file and changing your IP listing from the 127.xxx to your 192.xxx, also
to no avail.
