Hello, i also have the same problem on diffrents games and i run kubuntu Lucid
10.04 x86 64 from PPA.

For me it's a very bad bug while game like Call of Duty 4 , Fallout 3 don't
have any sound except a very high noise .

Like José said, RC6 just works fine, as previous releases had as well.
