I cloned git into a new folder, then applied the patch from bug 23556. I did
NOT apply the patch to fix the login crash. I then compiled Wine and tried SC2.
The black screen was no longer there, and I could login correctly! I have not
played any matches yet, but it does appear the login patch is no longer
necessary.

...However, it is still disturbing that Wine crashed on a program when Windows
does not. It may be a good idea to figure out why Wine/SC2 was crashing, and
fix it so this problem doesn't occur again.
