I see the problem using either self-compiled Wine or the package from the
Ubuntu PPA. (I'm using Kubuntu 9.10 x64.) libpng is present, and I think it's
usable...

Here's the +menubuilder trace, hope it has something helpful.

On another note, I'm usually running this installer from another partition
(FAT32). On a hunch, I tried running it from ~/.wine/drive_c instead, and for
some reason, this seems to make it work most of the time. I still get a wine
glass 15-30% of the time. (Or I guess it could just be an inconsistent problem
and I got lucky after I moved the file...)
