This is still an issue with wine 1.2, and this happens with multiple games
attempting to update DirectX. I have edited the title accordingly.

My workaround is to copy the game contents to my HDD, change the name of the
directory or files containing the DX update so that the game doesn't install
it, and do winetricks d3dx9 if it is necessary to run the game.
