You are probably right, since we don't know the nature of other limitations we
will encounter in memory access. 

The first bug one may not represent the nature of future ones, so making a
universal preemptive fix for this and all future related issues may not be
worth the effort if it doesn't necessarily prevent future bugs, or even lay
groundwork for fixing them.  Until we see a pattern in Host OS limitation bugs,
we won't know what would be effective other than workarounds
