I lie. on re-running Itunes I can actually click on stuff, however nothing
actually plays. it says its playing but no sound. 

I should note that when i ran Itunes the first Couple times it was exactly 
like op reported. Gives waring about not being installed properly, opens and
then freezes up. I minimized it to tray but then could not maximize again so I
went to terminate the process using the"system monitor" however while Itunes
was running i had lost the ability to click on native Linux programs such as
system monitor. i had to terminate the process using the keyboard. NOT the
mouse. the cursor would move and i could start applications from awn window
navigator but i could not click on anything else until Itunes was terminated
via keyboard.
